Capt to distribute loan waiver certificates today

Patiala, December 6

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will distribute loan waiver certificates to over 1 lakh farmers in Patiala on Friday. Certificates of loan waiver of over Rs 1,771 crore will be distributed among 1.09 lakh farmers at Omaxe complex near Baran village. He will be accompanied by senior ministers from the Cabinet.

Capt Sandeep Sandhu, political secretary to the Chief Minister, and others visited the venue to check security and other aspects.

Capt Sandhu said, “The government has already waived loans to the tune of Rs 1,815 crore of over 3 lakh farmers.”

Another official Gurkirat Kirpal Singh said beneficiaries from various districts would attend the programme. He said singer Kulwinder Billa would also perform on the occasion.

The officials checked the security and safety provisions at the site along with police officials, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) AS Rai. — TNS
