City lad Calvin Golmei stumbled on the last hurdle as he bowed 3-6 1-6 to top seed Ishaque Eqbal of West Bengal in the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship final at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here on Friday. 

Eqbal, who had an impressive run in the tournament, also won the men’s doubles title along with Madhya Pradesh Yash Yadav. The top seed pair registered a 6-3 6-4 win over Haryana’s Ajay Malik and Sunil Malik in the final.

The women’s doubles title went to Yubrani Banerjee of West Bengal and Delhi’s Shweta Chandra Rana. In the final, the top seeds humbled third seed pair of Saumya Vig from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu’s Nithyaraj Baburaj 6-2 6-4.

Maharashtra’s Sharannya Vijay Gaware also failed to stretch her impressive run as she succumbed to Telangana’s Bhuvana Kalva 0-6 4-6 in the women’s singles final.
