Mohali, April 29

Fourteen days after a case was registered against Lucky Singh for allegedly raping a woman in his cab, another woman lodged a complaint against him with the police today.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar said the victim, in her complaint, alleged that she was molested by him in his car. “The incident had occurred before the recent rape case. We have registered another case against Lucky Singh,” said Bhullar.

According to the victim, who is also an employee of the same call centre where the victim of the recent rape case worked, the cabbie gave her a lift in his car and then started molesting her. When she raised the alarm, a passerby came to her rescue after which he pushed her out of his vehicle and sped away.

A case under Section 354 B of the IPC has been registered against Lucky Singh at the Phase 8 police station.

Lucky Singh had earlier reportedly confessed to having raped the call centre employee in his cab on April 15.

“He had also confessed that he had raped at least four other women in the past nine months in a similar manner, but all these cases had gone unreported. He had also kidnapped a 13-year-old girl in October last year and a case in this regard was registered at the Phase 1 police station,” said the SSP.

“Earlier, no other victim was agreeing to lodge a complaint, but now one of them has come forward. We are hoping that other victims will also follow suit,” said the SSP, adding that they had met all victims who were allegedly raped by Lucky Singh. “The victims narrated their ordeal but were afraid to come forward with their complaints due to fear and social stigma,” said Bhullar.

Suspect to be produced in court

  • The court of the Ilaqa magistrate has directed the police to produce Lucky Singh, the suspect in the rape on wheels, before it on Wednesday.

  • The Mohali police have moved an application in the court to bring Lucky on production warrants here. Lucky Singh is lodged at the Ropar jail, where his test identification parade was held on Friday.
