A day after the rape of a 19-year-old disabled girl, the local court has sent the accused cab driver to three-day police remand.

Meanwhile, Ola has blacklisted the accused cab driver.

The Ola spokesperson in an official statement said: “We regret the unfortunate experience and condemn the incident. However, the driver was not on the platform at the time of the incident. We have zero tolerance to such behaviour and the driver has been blacklisted from the platform with immediate effect. Safety of customers is our priority and we are extending full support to the police in the investigation.”

Yesterday, the Panchkula police had arrested a 26-year-old cab driver, Kamal, alias Kunal, of Nayagaon.

The victim, a resident of Sector 23 in Chandigarh, works with a private firm and is pursuing graduation. The girl became friends with the Ola cab driver about two weeks ago after travelling in his car on a few occasions. However, she was not aware of his intentions.

On Thursday night, the accused picked her up from Chandigarh and took her to a hotel in Sector 5, Panchkula. He took her to a room where he administered her intoxicants and raped her while she was subconscious.

Later, the accused dropped her in front of her home and drove away.
