A 36-year-old Burail Jail inmate has been chosen for the Tinka Tinka India Awards.

Tinka Tinka is a movement started by a prison reforms activist, Vartika Nanda, for bringing in creativity and change in prisons.

Vasudev is among a total of 12 inmates selected from various jails for the awards this year.

The awards are for three categories, including painting and special talent for jail inmates and award for jail administrators.

Jail officials said Vasudev’s name was nominated for the award due to his dedication towards work in the jail kitchen. “His presence has brought huge difference to the prison kitchen,” said a jail official.

Bhupinder Singh, Director General (Prisons), Rajasthan, AK Maheshwari, DG, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Vartika Nanda, founder, Tinka Tinka Foundation, released the awards at the Central Prison, Jaipur. — TNS
