Students clean village park

Panchkula: Students of Government Postgraduate College, Sector 1, on Saturday visited Kundi village in Panchkula district under the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship programme and made villagers aware about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

Panchkula: Students of Government Postgraduate College, Sector 1, on Saturday visited Kundi village in Panchkula district under the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship programme and made villagers aware about the importance of sanitation and hygiene. They also cleaned a park in the village. The college has enrolled around 100 students under the programme. NSS programme officers are also enrolled under it. College principal Archana Mishra emphasised on the importance of sanitation and hygiene in our lives.

Special interactive session held 

Panchkula: A special interactive session with Shruti Arora and Keshni Anand Arora was organised by Vivek Career Academy at Hansraj Public School here on Saturday. Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana, was the chief guest for the session. The evening began with a welcome address by Ritu Nichani Mittal followed by a short address by Vivek Atray, chief mentor at Vivek Career Academy, who set the motivational tone of the evening. Shruti Arora, IPS, shared her journey of preparation for the UPSC exams and took questions from the audience. 

Students to showcase designs

Chandigarh: The Northern Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali, is all set to hold Anukama-2018, a graduating show for the Fashion Design (FD) batch of NIIFT, on Sunday at Shivalik Public School, Phase VI, Mohali. The evening will feature 52 exquisite collections on the ramp created by students of Fashion Design of NIIFT. TNS

One held with ganja

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have arrested a person while possessing ganja. According to the police, the accused, identified as Vikas, alias Chulbul, was arrested from Dadu Majra Colony (DMC) while possessing 500-gm ganja. A case has been registered against the accused at the Maloya police station and an investigation has been initiated in this regard. TNS

Youth hangs self to death 

Chandigarh: A 20-year-old youth reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Mauli Complex, Mauli Jagran, on Saturday evening. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Bhagwan Dass. The police were informed about the incident around 5.30 pm after which the victim was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hodpital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead. The body has been shifted to a mortuary and the autopsy will be conducted on Sunday. An inquest proceeding has been initiated into the matter at the Mauli Jagran police station. TNS
