Kalka: A woman sustained serious injuries when she fell off a bus. The incident took place at 6.30 pm  when the woman, resident of  Surajpur, was trying to get down a bus at the Surajpur bus stop near Amravati. She was rushed to the Kalka CHC from where she was referred to a Panchkula hospital. OC

Man commits suicide

Dera Bassi: A 35-year-old man ended his life by jumping before a train following an argument with his wife here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Preet Nagar, Dera Bassi. According to GRP sources, they received information about 2 pm that a body was lying near the Dera Bassi railway crossing. Sources said the incident took place around 1.30 pm when the victim, along his wife, reached the railway crossing after an argument. In a fit of rage, Ajay committed suicide by jumping before a train. OC

Woman takes poison

Fatehgarh Sahib: A 27-year-old newly married woman of Sangatpur Sodhian village  consumed some poisonous substance. She was admitted to the local Civil Hospital. The woman, identified as Jasvir Kaur, was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, where her condition is stated to be out of danger. Jasvir was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state at about 2 pm after which she was sent to the PGI, Chandigarh, at 3 pm. According to information, Jasvir was working as a nurse at a private hospital in Sirhind and had consumed some poisonous substance due to a domestic feud. TNS

Stolen bus found

Kharar: A Punjab Roadways bus (PB12-Y-0918), which was allegedly stolen from Chandigarh on Sunday, was found parked near Mamupur village on Monday. All tyres of the bus were missing. Gharuan SHO Manphool Singh said the Gharuan police informed their counterparts in Chandigarh about it. It is suspected that thieves left the bus here after stealing its tyres. OC  

Camp on drug abuse

Ropar: The Mehar International Educational Society and Charitable Trust, Ropar,  organised an awareness camp on drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Bharatgarh, Lodhimajra, Bahmanmajra and Singh Bhagwantpur villages. The camps were organised to sensitise people about the drug abuse and empower women to help their family members to come out of addiction.  Nutritionist Geekiest Kaur was also present. Others who attended the camp were NGO chairman Raman Sharma, vice-president Preetinder Kaur, food expert Herkiran Kaur and sarpanches of various villages. TNS
