Chandigarh, March 19

The Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, PU, along with Sarvodaya International Trust, organised a lecture-cum-book release function here today.

During the function, the book titled ‘Gandhi: The Soul Warrior’ authored by retired ambassador Pascal Alan Nazareth was released by PU VC Prof Raj Kumar and Pritam Pal, former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge. The PU VC congratulated the author and motivated the students and research scholars to improve their writing skills.

Nazareth said, “It is always better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Gandhi revolutionised revolution and spiritualised it without bloodshed.” He also emphasised on the importance of Gandhi’s maxim that “he who fears fails’. “You stand up and you fight, don’t worry about the consequences because if you stand up for the truth even if you die in struggle, truth cannot lose because for Gandhi, truth was God,” he added.

Dr Ashu Pasricha, chairperson, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, said values, thoughts and principles espoused by Gandhi could guide them towards a better future.
