Body found from drain in Dhakoli

Zirakpur (Dhakoli), July 1

The police recovered an unidentified body from a drain at Gazipur village on Sunday.

According to sources, villagers saw a body lying in the drain, which passed through the village, and informed the police. The body seemed to be of a migrant labourer.

The police took the body into custody and sent it to mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, for identification. The identity of the deceased, who appeared to be in mid 40’s, could not be established. The police recovered an I-card from the spot, which read supervisor. No address or name was mentioned on the card, said the police.

The police has ruled out any possibility of an assault as the body bore no external marks of injury. Further investigation is in progress.

No case has been registered yet. The police is trying to find family members of the deceased.
