Chandigarh, April 27

Protesting the demolition drive at Khuda Ali Sher, BJP leaders and workers sat on a dharna at Matka Chowk here on Friday.

The protesters were led by Dr Hukam Chand, BJP district president, number 5; Balwinder Sharma, president of the party’s Kisan Morcha Pradesh; and local leader Ramvir Bhatti.

They first protested at the demolition site, but they were taken away by the police. Following which, they sat on the dharna at Matka Chowk.

“Why do official get land registry done? Why they give water and electricity connections to the people when they have to raze the houses,” said Bhatti. — TNS
