Chandigarh, June 25

Slamming MP Kirron Kher, former Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal said the BJP had the tradition of staking claim to projects initiated by the Congress.

The Congress leader criticised Kher for her statement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched his dream projects from Chandigarh. Bansal said he was astonished to read that she had taken the credit for Aadhaar (UID) which was launched during his tenure as an MP. He claimed that the schemes were now being repackaged with a different name and being claimed as initiatives taken by the Modi government.

He cited examples of how the Modi government had changed the names of original schemes started by the Congress-led government and had taken credit for those. He said the Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account Scheme was renamed as Jan Dhan Yojana, National Girl Child Day Programme was renamed as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana’, Swavalamban Yojana was renamed as Atal Pension Yojna, National Manufacturing Policy was renamed as Make in India and National eGovernance Plan was renamed as Digital India.
