In a hit-and-run, a man died and his friend sustained injuries as a rashly driven jeep hit their motorcycle near Pinjore. The victim was identified as Sahil, a resident of Panjokhra village in Ambala district.

In his complaint to the police, Harsimrandeep Singh, a resident of Humayupur village in SAS Nagar district, said he and Sahil had gone to meet the latter’s acquaintance in Baddi on Wednesday. He said while Sahil was driving the bike, he was riding pillion.

While they were returning from Baddi, a rashly driven jeep coming from the Pinjore side hit the motorcycle at Basola village near Pinjore. The bikers received seriously injuries in the mishap. Harsimrandeep said the jeep driver sped away from the spot.

Sahil died on the spot. Harsimrandeep, who became unconscious, regained consciousness at the Civil Hospital in Panchkula, following which he recorded his statement.

A case has been registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections. —TNS
