Chandigarh: Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, has earned a unique distinction of being declared the best school among all Bhavan Schools in the country and abroad by the Central Award Committee of Bhavan's Shikshan Bharati for the year 2017. The award is given in recognition of the outstanding academic performance as well as co-curricular activities.
St Xavier’s Sr Sec School
Chandigarh: Students of St Xavier’s shine in ICSE schools Chandigarh region poetry recitation competition organised by St Xavier’s Sr Sec School, Chandigarh. Around 10 ICSE schools in Chandigarh region took part in the competition. In category 1 (Classes II and III), Yashita Sharma (St Stephen’s School, Chandigarh) won the first prize. Second and third positions were bagged by Nirmay Singh Patwal (St Xavier’s Sr Sec School, Chandigarh) and Ridhi Sharma (St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula), respectively. The consolation prize went to Chitrakshi Awasthi (St Xavier’s High School, Panchkula). In Category 2 (Classes IV and V), Gurmannat Singh (St Xavier’s Sr Sec. School, Chandigarh) stood first, Garv Dugar (St Xavier’s Sr Sec School, Chandigarh) stood second and Seher Jabbal (St Stephen’s School) stood third. The consolation prize was bagged by Sabhyasanchi (Little Flower Convent School).
IS Dev Samaj Sr Sec School
Chandigarh: IS Dev Samaj Sr Sec School, Sector 21-C, Chandigarh, organised the tricity sub-junior and junior judo tournament at the Sports Complex, Sector 34, Chandigarh. The overall championship trophy for girls' was bagged by Moti Ram School, Sector 27, Chandigarh. In the boys' category, the overall championship trophy was won by IS Dev Samaj Sr Sec School, Sector 21-C, Chandigarh.
Manav Mangal Smart School
Chandigarh: The annual cultural fiesta, Razzmatazz, was organized at Manav Mangal Smart School, Phase X, Mohali. The event commenced with the principal presenting the accolades of 2017-18 where the achievements of the students were brought to the fore. A cultural show was also presented. Students presented a fashion show which depicted the journey of Manav Mangal School from 1968 to 2018. Director Sanjay Sardana extolled the efforts of the students and the faculty and congratulated them on putting together a great show.
Kendriya Vidyalaya
Chandigarh: Rahul Mahajan, an environment socialist, inaugurated a kitchen garden at KV OCF 29 Chandigarh. Principal Meenakshi along with the chief guest and children sowed seeds in the garden. Seeds were also distributed to the students.
Sharda Sarvhitkari School
Chandigarh: The Celiac Support organisation conducted an interactive session on gluten-free living at Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Sr Sec School, Sector 40-D, Chandigarh. The interactive session was a one of its kind wherein noteworthy speakers Dr Ruby Ahuja, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Neha Singh, Dermatologist and Cosmetologist, Depinder Kaur, Dietician, came together to educate and spread awareness about celiac disease. The session witnessed more than 100 participants. The doctor's panel stressed that there was no known scientific cure for celiac patients. The only way for them to lead a healthy life was to go on a lifelong gluten-free diet and maintain full prevention. — TNS
