In a bid to beautify Panchkula, the Municipal Corporation started the work on beatification of roundabouts on Sunday. The work began with the Panchkula MLA, Gian Chand Gupta, laying the foundation for the project at the Sector 7/18/8/17 rotary, also known as Major Sandeep Sagar roundabout.

“Under the Panchkula beautification project, nine roundabouts will be beautified in a phased manner. Out of these nine roundabouts, eight are with the MC and one comes under the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP),” said Rajesh Jogpal, MC Commissioner-cum-Administrator.

“The work will be done in two phases. In the first phase, the work on roundabouts will be completed by December. The work on entry points of Panchkula will begin in the second phase,” he added.

The beautification work began with transplantation of saplings at all roundabouts. An area of six lakh square metres covered by the nine roundabouts will be beautified under the project.
