Baptist School, Coaching Centre in U-14 final

Sahibdeep Singh hit an unbeaten half-century before Baptist School bowlers fired in unison to help the side register a 42-run win over DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, in the U-14 cricket tournament semifinals here on Thursday.   

Opting to bat at the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, ground, Baptist boys rode on Sahibdeep’s unbeaten 61-run knock to score 149/3 in the allotted 30 overs. 

Opener Jashanjot Singh made a brisk 42 and stitched a valuable 90-run partnership with Sahibdeep for the second wicket after Baptist School lost Mehul early. Gurinder remained not out on 19.

For DAV School, Prince Dahiya (1/20), Jashan Beniwal (1/22) and Vivek (1/24) claimed a wicket each. 

Chasing a decent total, DAV boys were all out for 107 runs in 27.2 overs as Aruinder-led Baptist attack made regular inroads into their line-up. Aruinder returned with the figures of 3/26.

In the final, Baptist boys will face Coaching Centre, Sector 16, which beat St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, by 60 runs in the other semifinal.  

Batting first, Coaching Centre were all out for 82 runs in 29.5 overs after four of their batsmen were run out. Pranav claimed 3/7. 

Needing a small target to defend, Manohar (3/12) and Debang (3/4) shared six wickets between them to bundle out St Joseph’s on 22 runs.

The final will be played at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, on Friday.
