Mohali, July 21

To avoid any airplane mishap due to bird hit, the Mohali administration has imposed a ban on running meat shops within one kilometre of the Air Force station and the Chandigarh international airport, here. District Magistrate Gurpreet Kaur Sapra issued orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in this regard.

Action against illegal construction in the area will also be initiated. Sapra said the issue was discussed in the recent civil-military liaison conferences. “The Air Force and the airport authorities were upset over the functioning of meat shops. Due to these meat shops, the risk of bird hit had multiplied. I have ordered to shut all meat shops,” said Sapra. She added that they would start issuing notices for illegal construction in the area. — TNS
