Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore launched an e-Vigilance portal at the Punjab Raj Bhawan here today in the presence of UT Adviser Parimal Rai and Secretary Vigilance BL Sharma.

Vigilance clearance is required in respect of all officers/officials of the Chandigarh Administration on various occasions such as promotion, ACP, ex-India leave, deputation and retirement. The process till date has been manual, which took around 20 to 30 days. To streamline the process and cut short the processing time, the Vigilance Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Chandigarh, developed the e-Vigilance portal for the convenience of employees of the UT Administration.

More than 33,000 employees of the Chandigarh Administration, boards, corporations and PSUs would be benefited from the e-Vigilance portal. The time for Vigilance clearance has been cut short to maximum 2-3 working days.

Now, the departments have to apply on the e-Vigilance portal to get the clearance certificate. A provision has also been made in the portal for uploading the pending departmental inquiry proceedings, which would be mandatory for all the HODs to update. On the e-Vigilance portal, Vigilance clearance can be provided in a transparent and time-bound manner.

The Vigilance Department has been working on this portal under the guidance of the UT Adviser-cum-Chief Vigilance Officer and senior officers of the Vigilance Department.

Jitender Yadav, Secretary Sports; Harish Nayar, Special Secretary, Vigilance; Vivek Verma, SIO, NIC; and other officials of the Vigilance Department and UT Administration were also present during the launch.
