Athletics Club bag twin titles

CHANDIGARH:Government Model High School, Sector 34, won the final of the girls’ sub-junior category on the concluding day of the State Volleyball Championship at the Sector 7 Sports Complex.

Government Model High School, Sector 34, won the final of the girls’ sub-junior category on the concluding day of the State Volleyball Championship at the Sector 7 Sports Complex. 

The Sector-34 outfit defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, 25-11 25-12 to bag the top honour. Government Model Senior Secondary Schools, Sector 19, posted 25-16 25-19 win over DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, to claim the third position.

Panjab University Campus club won the boys sub-junior title by defeating DAV School 25-22 25-10 25-19. YFC, Sector 27, defeated Athletics Club, Sector-7, 25-18 25-19 to claim the third position.

In the girls youth category final, Athletics Club overpowered DAV Club, Sector 10. Athletics Club won the title by registering a 25-15 25-8 25-21 win. In the boys category, Athletic Club defeated Panjab University 25-20 21-25 25-22 25-19 in a tough match. 

In the girls youth category, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, claimed the third position by defeating Hospitech Club 25-20 25-17 25-19. DAV Club, Sector 10, defeated DAV School 25-20 25-17 25-27 25-22 to claim the third spot in the boys youth category. 

Earlier, in the youth girls’ competition, Athletics Club, Sector 7, drubbed GMSSS, Sector 33, 25-13 25-05.  Hospitech Club beat PG Government College for Girls, Sector 42, 25-14 25-05, while DAV College, Sector 10, 

A probables squad to select the city team for the forthcoming national championships has been announced.
