The local court extended the police remand of ASI Sanjiv Kumar till December 16, here today. The ASI was involved in the police recruitment scam.
The Punjab vigilance sleuths had nabbed ASI Sanjiv, who had issued appointment letters for the constable post to six persons after taking a bribe of Rs 7 lakh each. The victims had also joined wireless wing of the Mohali police, but the fraud came to light when they did not get salaries for nearly six months.
A vigilance official said, "We have recovered two laptops of the accused and a list of 11 candidates. We have also summoned the remaining five candidates."
The official said, "We have also received another complaint from a dismissed constable Bawa Singh, who alleged that Sanjiv had taken Rs 40,000 from him for his reinstatement."
Sanjiv had good knowledge of computers. “He had prepared the fake documents, including appointment letters, identity cards of victims on computer," said the official.
