ASI beaten up for bid to stop DJ

Zirakpur: The local police have booked five persons and their unidentified accomplices for allegedly assaulting an Assistant Sub-Inspector and his team when they asked the disc jockey at a function to stop playing music.

Zirakpur: The local police have booked five persons and their unidentified accomplices for allegedly assaulting an Assistant Sub-Inspector and his team when they asked the disc jockey at a function to stop playing music. The police said the incident occurred on the night of November 17 at Zirakpur after a resident of the area informed the Police Control Room about a DJ performing late at night. Krishan Chand, ASI, posted at the Zirakpur police station, along with his team and the complainant, reached the spot and asked the DJ to stop playing music. However, the marriage palace owner and others started assaulting them. Later, the victims took treatment from the Civil hospital, Dera Bassi. The police have registered a case against the five persons by name and their unidentified accomplices at the Zirakpur police station. OC

Pedestrian dies in mishap

Mohali: A pedestrian died in a road accident when a car hit him from rear near the petrol pump at village Chappar Chiri here. The incident occurred around 6 in the morning on Monday. The victim has been identified as Jasveer Singh (50), a resident of Sante Majra village in Mohali district. The car driver fled from the spot after committing the crime. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital at Kharar, where doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been registered against the unknown car driver under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Balongi police station. Indian medicine discussed in Cuba

Chandigarh: City-based Dr Sonica Krishan, author, speaker and ayurveda consultant, was recently invited by MEC global events to Cuba for a presentation and talk on ‘Indian Alternative and Traditional Remedies for Health and Wellness’ at the International Conference on Alternative and Traditional Medicine at Varadero, Cuba.  The conference was attended by more than 150 doctors practising in the modern stream of medicine from various countries in Europe. Dr Sonica had earlier also been invited to Dubai for a similar conference which was attended by American, European and Middle East doctors and Health practitioners. TNS
