Artistes pay tributes to Pandit Nehru

National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS), Patiala, celebrated ‘Nehru Jayanti’ as Chacha Nehru cultural and felicitation function at the Bhasha Bhavan here.

The presidium, including chief guest Sharanya Jit Kaur, a kathak dance expert and film TV artiste, Mumbai, guest of honour writer-artiste MS Jaggi, senior vice-president of NTAS PC Tiwari  and director duo Pran Sabharwal-Sunita Sabharwal paid floral tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the creator of three national, sangeet natak, sahit and lalit kala academies, and spoke high of him and his exemplary contribution. The dignitaries pleaded for strengthening the Children Theatre Movement by government departments, universities and art academies as a tribute to Nehru and his staunch love for children.

Sharanya Jit Kaur while narrating her life experience inspired girls to unlock their potential and use their hidden talent to make their dreams true. NTASians honoured the dignitaries by presenting them the Nehru Memorial Award of Honour. PC Tiwari lauded the efforts of the Department of Languages, its director Madam Gursharan Kaur and staff for providing facilities to NTAS for rehearsals and open air theatre free of cost to 

theatre groups. Artistes presented patriotic musical and Punjabi Haas Raag Rang programme, which mesmerised the audience. — TNS
