Top seed Arnav Bishnoi registered a 6-1 6-4 win over Satvik Singla in the opening round of the boys’ U-14 category on the second day of the Roots-AITA Challenge Series (CS-7) National Ranking Championship here today.
Divyam Sharma packed off Iren Singh 6-0 6-0, while Shivam Wadhawan drubbed Abhishek Luthra 6-2 6-2. Yash Jindal overcame Hriday Pandey 6-3 6-7(5) 6-1 in the opening round.
Shorya Jishtu came from behind to register a 3-6 7-6(3) 6-4 win over Lavam Makharia. Harwin Singh defeated Viraj Singh 6-2 6-2, while Udhbhav Kaplish ousted Aditya Rathore 6-1 6-2 in the first round.
Pranay Sharma edged out Aditya Bhatnagar 6-2 7-6(3), while Hardik Khanduja registered a 6-4 6-0 win over Karmanya Aggarwal. Yashasvi Bhalhara moved into the second round with a 6-4 6-1 win over Aryan Jolly.
Gurbaaz Singh thumped Naman Bansal 6-1 6-1, while Kanvarpreet Singh dispatched Aditya Jain in the opening round. Gurbaaz won 6-3 6-0. Umang Singh defeated Shounak Chatterjee 6-3 6-3.
Anuj survives
In the boys’ U-12 competition, top seed Anuj Pal overcame a resilient Daksh Kapoor to move into the main draw.
Pal won the opening set 7-5, but Kapoor fought his way back into the match with a 6-4 win in the second set. Pal though sealed the decider 6-3 to enter the main draw.
Pragun Thakur registered a 6-1 6-1 win over Ayaan Modi, while Romair Singh drubbed Manan Dhir 6-0 6-1. Second seed Anhad Singh blanked Rudra Pratap 6-0 6-0.
Shorya Jishtu humbled Amrat Chaudhary 6-3 6-2 to move ahead. — TNS
