With 98.8 per cent, Mohali-based Kritika is another humanities stream topper for the tricity in the CBSE Class XII exams.

Anusha Naggar from Bhavan Vidyalaya had topped the tricity with 98.8 per cent in the CBSE exams, results of which were declared around a month ago.

Kritika of Doon International School was unhappy over her previous score — 98.2 per cent — and decided to apply for revaluation.

“Although I expected an increase of at least five marks, an error of three marks in the totalling of three subjects came to the fore. I was not satisfied with my marks as I wanted to top the region.”

After revaluation, Kritika’s sociology score improved by two marks, English by one mark and mathematics (optional) by one mark. Her score now stands as English (96), history (100), sociology (99), legal studies (99) and physical education (99).

Kritika plans to pursue legal studies and has appeared for law colleges’ entrance exams.

The 17-year-old is inspired by Dalveer Bhandari, who is presently the Indian member of the International Court of Justice. Sharing her success strategy, she said: “I used to set deadlines every day for myself. I have always believed in hard work and used to study 6-7 hours a day. The only breaks I took were while eating food or doing chores.”

Her father Jitender Kumar is a Superintendent of the GST Department and mother Rajni is a Hindi teacher at a government school.
