Aniket claims gymnastics gold

CHANDIGARH:Aniket of CL Aggarwal DAV School, Sector 7, was adjudged all-round best gymnast of the boys’ U-12 category in the ongoing State Sub-junior Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, on Thursday.

Chandigarh, December 6 

Aniket of CL Aggarwal DAV School, Sector 7, was adjudged all-round best gymnast of the boys’ U-12 category in the ongoing State Sub-junior Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, on Thursday. 

Shubham of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, claimed the second position, while Yash of Government Model High School, Sector 29, was named third best gymnast of the category. Aniket won his first gold in the floor event, while Shubham claimed the silver medal and Pankaj bagged bronze. 

In the vault-table event, Shubham and Aniket claimed the first and second position, respectively, while Yash and Pankaj finished at the joint third position. 

In parallel bars, Aniket, Shubham and Pankaj claimed the top three positions, respectively. Aniket also won the top spot in the horizontal bar event, followed by Shubham at the second spot and Yash at third. 

Meanwhile, in the boys’ U-10 category, Akshit Malik of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, won the first position in the floor event.  Prince Kumar of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Mani Majra, claimed the second position, while Yajat Kumar of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 33, finished third. In vault table event,        Malik claimed the first position, while Prince finished at the second position. Tanish Rawat and Ankit Kumar finished at joint third position. 

Anushka wins gold 

Anushka Sharma of St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, claimed the first position in the floor event of the girls’ U-10 category. Ekam Kaur Brar of Manav Mangal School, Sector 21, claimed the second position. Ishita and Arushi Patial claimed joint third position. —TNS
