Air Asia’s Delhi-Srinagar flight, which reportedly developed a technical snag, made an emergency landing at the local airport this morning.

According to sources, nearly 173 passengers and 15 crew members were on board when the flight landed at Chandigarh International Airport in Mohali.

The spokesperson for the Airport Authority of India (AAI) said the Air Force Air Traffic Control tower received an SOS call from the flight around 7.40 am, seeking permission for an emergency landing due to some technical snag.

“After receiving the call, all emergency rescue operation teams were alerted and the runway was immediately cleared,” said the sources, adding that after safe landing, all passengers were taken to the lounge before another aircraft was arranged for them.
