Aero-modelling to be part of heritage, crafts fest

The district administration is preparing for the heritage and crafts festivals in the city. Officials said performers from various countries, including Turkey, Thailand, Afghanistan and others will be part of the festivals. 

  During a press conference at the administrative complex here today, Kumar Amit, Deputy Commissioner (DC) said, “Heritage festival and crafts mela will be inaugurated on February 19.” Poonamdeep Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) said, “Performers from various countries, including Turkey, Thailand, Afghanistan will be part of the crafts mela.” 

  “Over 300 to 350 artistes of the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) will perform during the festival. They will present folk dances. Competitions will be held for school and college students in bhangra, giddha, other dances of Punjab and poster making,” she added.

  Officials said, “Aero-modelling and stunt biking, performances by well known dhrupad, sitar and sarod players will be part of the heritage festival.”

Shaukat Ahmed Pare, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) said, “As many as 150 crafts persons will display and sell metalwork, traditional jewellery, textiles and other products at the crafts mela.”
