Aditya eyeing triple titles

Aditya Chauhan dismissed Arnav Malik 6-0 6-0 to set up the title clash with Shraey Vir in the boys’ U-14 category on the penultimate day of the STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here, on Thursday. Shraey Vir overcame Keshav Dangi 7-6(8) 6-0 in the semis.

Chauhan also reached the U-16 final after he drubbed Yashvardhan Gaur 6-2 6-2. He will now face Avish Verma, who survived some anxious moments against Sanat Goyal in the other semifinal.

Verma won the opening set 6-4, but Goyal pocketed the next set to draw level. In the decider, both the players fought tooth and nail, but it was Verma who held his nerve at the crucial juncture to win 7-5.

Later in the day, Chauhan joined hands with Verma to beat Arnav Malik and Darshan in the boys’ U-16 doubles semifinals. 

In the final, the duo will meet Yashvardhan Gaur and Keshav Dangi, who overcame Sankalp and Sanat Goyal 6-3 6-7(2) 12-10.

Vanya, Nimrat advance

Vanya Arora, meanwhile, tamed Omisha Nischal 6-1 6-2 to ease into the girls’ U-14 final. She will play Yashika Sharma for the title. 

Yashika downed Ananya Dogra 6-3 6-4 in the semis.

Nimrat Atwal humbled Bhumika Gupta 6-1 6-2 in the girls’ U-16 semifinals. In the final, Nimrat will face Sia Mahajan, who beat Ayushi Prajapat 6-0 6-1.
