Chandigarh, August 28

The Sector 39 waterworks today received additional water supply of 10 MGD through one motor from the Kajauli waterworks near Morinda.

Officials associated with the project said the remaining additional water supply from three other motors would be received in a week. The water will be treated at the treatment plant and sterilisation will be done.

“The process will take about a month. If no further leakage or fault is reported, residents will start getting additional supply by the end of September,” shared an official.

In total, the city will be getting additional 29 MGD water from phase V and VI of the Kajauli waterworks.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rajesh Kumar and Commissioner KK Yadav today visited the waterworks in Sector 39 to take stock of the commissioning of a trial run of raw water supply from Jandpur to Chandigarh under the augmentation of water supply scheme phase V and VI.

The team also inspected the newly constructed raw water storage tank having capacity of 6 MGD, which was being filled by water from phase V and VI, and two underground reservoirs (UGRs) to store treated water.

“This water will be treated at the newly constructed 15 MGD water treatment plant at Sector 39 and supplied to the city,” said officials.
