8K participate in CGC techno-cultural fest

An annual Techno-cultural Fest was organised on the campus of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri, on Wednesday. As many as 8,000 students from several institutes of the Tricity participated in the function. Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu was the chief guest on the occasion.

The fest was full of lively cultural, technical and non-technical events. Cultural events, including alaap-solo singing, surkshetra, Punjabi virsa dances, mimicry and others were presented by students.

Technical events, including quiz competition, maze runner, polo climbing robot, techno-skit, poster presentation, autocad, programming league, project demonstration, computer quiz, tech hunt, gaming zone, logo addiction and bridge the gap were organised on the occasion.

While encouraging students, chief guest Balbir Singh Sidhu said, “Such fests help in developing the overall personality of students and generate a spirit of healthy competition among participants, who come from various colleges of different states.” He also released Rs 27 crore to widen the Landran road on the occasion.

Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal and Satnam Singh Sandhu, president and chairman of the CGC, respectively, said the main aim of the festival was to promote breakthroughs in science and technology, scientific thinking and innovation among youngsters.
