525 students awarded at PGGCG-42

The Post Graduate Government College for Girls in Sector 42 (PGGCG) here organised its 36th annual prize distribution function on the college premises.

As many as 525 students were awarded prizes for excelling in the academics and various co-curricular activities. Twenty four students were honored with Roll of Honour for academics and nine each were felicitated for co-curricular activities and sports.

Twelve students were awarded the College Colour in academics, 26 in co-curricular activities and 40 for sports.

Around 311 students were awarded academic prizes for securing positions in the university and house examination and 89 students were awarded momentoes for being the office-bearers, student editors, and other activities.

Saroj Vasudeva Scholarship was awarded to Amanjot Kaur of BCom I year, Talwinder Kaur of MA II year and Sakshi of BSc III year. Priya Gupta of BA III year and Jyoti Kaushal of MSc Microbial Bio-Technology II year were awarded the Best Graduate of the Year Award and Best Post Graduate of the Year Award, respectively. Laxmi Devi Memorial cash prize of Rs 2,100 was awarded to Priya Gupta of BA III year. Priya Gupta and Jyoti Kaushal also got the Pranshu-Anmol Garg memorial award of Rs 11,000 each.

Beena Amarjit Memorial cash prize was awarded to 19 students who excelled in academics. On the occasion, SCOOP, Newsletter of Functional English Department, and book authored by Dr Purnendu Ranjan was also released by chief guest VP Singh Badnore, Chandigarh Administrator.

Principal Binu Dogra highlighted the achievements of the college for the current session, which included 66 positions in the university exams, 38 prizes, including 10 first prizes, nine second prizes, and 19 third prizes in the PU Zonal Youth Festival and various accolades in the sports arena. She also highlighted that the college had received a grant of Rs 2 crore from the MHRD.
