Mohali, June 20

Even as the Civil Hospital here keeps receiving cases of dog-bite victims every day, the Municipal Corporation has still not started the work of sterilising stray dogs in the town.

As many as five fresh cases of dog bite were received at the hospital today.  The sterilisation work had stopped about a month ago after it was allotted to a new agency. The new contractor had asked the civic body to carry out certain modifications in the operating theatre before the work of sterilising stray dogs could be started there.  It is learnt that the tenders for carrying out the modification work will be opened on June 23 after which a week’s time will be needed to make the required changes in the operating theatre.
