A 40-year-old cab driver was allegedly murdered by passengers who booked the vehicle to Baddi in Himachal Pradesh from the Kalka railway station on the night of September 10.

According to the police, a complaint in this regard was filed by the victim’s brother Nirmal Singh. In his complaint, Nirmal alleged that Parvinder, alias Bittu, left for Baddi from the Kalka railway station with five passengers around 10:20 pm on September 10. He suspects that the passengers had killed his brother and dumped his body on the Banoi Khuda Baksh road.

“My brother had asked his wife Jasprit Kaur to call him at regular intervals of 15-20 minutes throughout the Baddi journey. When Jasprit tried her husband’s number around 12:20 am, it was found switched off,” he said.

Jasprit rang up her brother-in-law Nirmal and told him everything. Later, Nirmal, along with his wife and sister-in-law Jasprit, enquired about the whereabouts of his brother at Baddi-Barotiwala toll barrier. However, their attempts proved futile. Later, they came to know that an unidentified body has been recovered from Khedawali.

After receiving information, all family members rushed to the mortuary of the CHC, Kalka, where the body was kept. “I identified the blood-soaked body of my brother at the mortuary. There were injury marks on his head,” the complainant told the police.

A police official said they recovered the victim’s body from the Banoi Khuda Baksh road.

Inspector Yashdeep Singh, SHO of the Pinjore police station, said a case had been registered and investigations were under way.

The case was registered against unidentified persons under Sections 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
