A four-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Sector 11, Panchkula, on Monday evening. 

The victim, Aman, was playing with a girl, Ashwin (5) in the parking near the Gita temple in Sector 11 when the accident took place around 6.30 pm-6.45 pm. 

“A car was been reversed when it hit both Aman and Ashwin,” said the SHO of the Sector 5 police station, Inspector Arvind Kumar. 

The car sped away. There was no eyewitness. One of the victim’s neighbour, Santosh, took the children to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, where Aman was declared brought dead. 

Ashwin was refereed to the PGI. “We are looking for CCTV footage to nab the accused. Meanwhile, we have registered a case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) and Section 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code,” said the SHO. Aman’s father Rajneesh and Ashwin’s father Ishaan are labourers. The families live in shanties near the Gita temple in Sector 11 and are natives of UP, police said. — TNS
