A four-year-old boy died after he was hit by a rashly driven car at Zirakpur here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Vicky, a resident of Jhuggiyan, near Zirakpur.

The police said the incident happened on Friday afternoon when Vicky was playing near brick klin with other children, who reside in the nearby area.

The police said the victim’s mother was preparing lunch inside hut when the incident took place. As per eyewitnesses, a rashly driven Swift car hit Vicky while he was playing. The victim was rushed to the Governmnet Medical College and Hosptial, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment for a few hours.

The father of the deceased, who works at brick klin, had approached the Zirakpur police following which a case was registered against an unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Further probe is on.
