Four persons riding two motorcycles allegedly robbed a Ludhiana man of Rs 8,000 and documents in Sector 52. According to the police, the victim was robbed near a park in Sector 52 yesterday.

Besides the cash, an ATM card and an Aadhaar card were taken away from the victim. The accused sped away from the spot after the incident. The police were informed, who registered a case at the Sector 36 police station.

The police said the victim, Pradeep Shukla, claimed that he arrived from Shimla on a bus and picked up his motorcycle from the ISBT, Sector 43, and started for Ludhiana.

Around 4 am, four persons riding two motorcycles stopped him and attacked him with a stick. They then allegedly robbed him of cash. The victim got injured in the attack and was admitted to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 here.

During preliminary investigation, the police found that around 11 pm on October 9, the complainant, who was drunk, had a scuffle with an employee of a wine shop in Sector 42.

The police said there were several chinks in the complainant’s theory. 

“The complainant could not describe properly what exactly happened and we doubt his theory,” said a police official.
