32-yr-old man dies after taking excessive alcohol

A 32-year-old man died after consuming excessive liquor here on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Jatinder Kumar, a resident of Rampur Kalan village, Zirakpur.

The police said Jatinder Kumar, a farmer, had consumed liquor at a wedding function. On Tuesday, he fell ill and was rushed to the Government College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. Sources said he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have initiated an inquest proceeding into the matter after recording the statement of Jatinder’s brother Devinder Singh.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination, said the police.
