The local police have arrested three employees of the parking contractor at the Chandigarh international airport for allegedly assaulting a cab driver and a passenger and damaging the cab here today.

The suspects have been identified as Sandeep Kumar, Sandeep Singh and Dinesh Kumar.

In his complaint to the police, cab driver Sandeep alleged that he had picked a passenger from the railway station and came to the airport on his passenger’s request to receive his friend. The complainant stated that when they reached outside the parking ticket counter, he took a U-turn on the road under the flyover as he was not supposed to park the vehicle because the passenger had arrived on the road outside the parking ticket counter. He said on watching this, the three employees at the parking lot allegedly forced him to go through the parking fee counter.

The cab driver stated that he requested them that he had not parked his cab as the passenger had already arrived outside the parking lot. However, the three employees did not agree and allegedly forced him to take his vehicle inside the parking lot. He said when he resisted, the trio allegedly assaulted him and broke a windowpane of the cab. He said the passenger sitting on the rear seat sustained injuries on his arms, face and legs due to the broken windowpane.

Inspector Baljeet Singh, SHO, Airport police station, said on receiving the cab driver’s complaint, they arrested the three employees of the parking contractor on the charges of voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint and creating public nuisance.
