3 convicted of murder bid, awarded jail

A local court today awarded five-year imprisonment to a person and four-year term to two others in a 2017 case of attempt to murder.

The court sent Ravi, alias Ricky, to five years in jail while Vijay Kumar, alias Kaka, and Gaurav, alias Gora, have been sentenced to four years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each convict.

A case under Sections 307, 324, 341, 506 and 201 of the IPC was registered at the Balongi police station. A complaint in this regard was lodged by Gurdeep Singh of Balongi.

The complainant had alleged that the accused had attacked him with sharp weapons at the Balongi market on April 2, 2017. Gurdeep Singh had sustained injuries in the attack.
