CHANDIGARH: A total of 3,451 seats of various streams in Class XI are lying vacant at city government schools. The Education Department is hopeful of filling the seats in the second counselling.

A total of 3,451 seats of various streams in Class XI are lying vacant at city government schools. The Education Department is hopeful of filling the seats in the second counselling.

There are 12,835 seats in the schools and the department is planning to fill around 10 to 15 per cent additional seats. Extra seats are filled as every year, a number of students take admission to private schools or have some other plans.

The left out students or those who want to apply online for a change in the school/stream can apply on July 16 and 17 for the second counselling. The list of the allotment of schools and streams will be displayed on July 23 and the selected candidates will have to deposit fee on July 24 and 25.

The third counselling will be held on August 13, wherein Class X compartment cases will be considered. “We expect a large number of applicantions during the second counselling. We are hopeful of filling all seats,” said an official.
