23-member city wrestling squad announced for junior Nationals

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Wrestling Association on Wednesday announced a 23-member squad, including three girls, for the U-15 Boys’ Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Girls’ Junior National Wrestling Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kota, Rajasthan, from June 21-23.

The Chandigarh Wrestling Association on Wednesday announced a 23-member squad, including three girls, for the U-15 Boys’ Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Girls’ Junior National Wrestling Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kota, Rajasthan, from June 21-23.  

While 10 boys each have been picked for the freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions, only three girls from the city will compete in the junior category. 

The freestyle team includes Harpreet Singh (38kg), Varinder Singh (41kg), Narinder Singh (44kg), Deepanshu (48kg), Devpriya Rotrawal (52kg), Sahil Mor (57kg), Mohit (62kg), Sachin Dahiya (68kg), Bobby Chahar (75kg) and Kapil Bhanot (85kg), while the Greco-Roman team comprises Anuj (38kg), Rohan (41kg), Raj Kumar (44kg), Taanish Bains (48kg), Simranjit Singh (52kg), Aryan Lohia (57kg), Sumit (62kg), Darshan Pyas Singh (68kg), Ritik (75kg) and Rohan Antil (85kg).  

Shruti, Anjali and her namesake will represent the city in the girls’ competition. While Shruti will compete in the 50kg weight category, Anjali will shoulder the challenge in 62kg competition. Her namesake will vie for the honour in the 66kg category.  — TNS
