A 22-year-old youth received stab wounds in the stomach when he tried to intervene in a street fight near Raipur Khurd here on Friday night.

The victim, identified as Sandeep of Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, was on his way to an eatery when he saw seven-eight persons engaged in a brawl at 11 pm. 

According to police sources, as the victim intervened, some three-four persons dragged him into a house and stabbed him. The victim, however, managed to flee the place. A friend saw him bleeding and took him to his rented room. Later, the victim’s friend dialled ‘100’ and informed the police about the incident.

The victim was taken to the GMCH–32 and was discharged after treatment today. The police said the victim did not disclose why he intervened in a scuffle on the roadside. A case has been registered at the Mauli Jagran police station.
