20 probationer nurses commissioned as lieutenants in MNS

CHANDIGARH:As many as 20 probationer nurses from the 49th batch of the School of Nursing, Command Hospital, Chandimandir, were commissioned as lieutenant into the Military Nursing Service (MNS) on Saturday.

As many as 20 probationer nurses from the 49th batch of the School of Nursing, Command Hospital, Chandimandir, were commissioned as lieutenant into the Military Nursing Service (MNS) on Saturday.

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the hospital Commandant, Maj Gen Rashmi Datta, said the military nursing was a highly challenging profession where nurses need to work hard in hospitals and many times in difficult terrain to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to soldiers and their families.

Emphasising that excellence in healthcare depends upon the quality of nursing care provided, she called upon them to keep abreast with the latest trends in the healthcare delivery system to ensure the well-being of the patients.

Lt Reshma Ajith K won a gold medal for securing the first position in academics in the batch as well as for being placed first in the all-India merit list. Lt Pritee Yadav bagged a silver medal for being second in the batch and for being placed fourth in the all-India merit. Lt Athulya T received the rolling trophy for the best all-round cadet, while Lt Keerthi Krishna was awarded the best bedside nurse rolling trophy.

The School of Nursing is an integral part of the Western Command Hospital, Chandimandir. Till date 820 nursing officers have passed out from the school.
