2 snatchers held, 6 mobiles recovered

The police have nabbed two snatchers, who had snatched a mobile phone from a person on the intervening night of February 13 and 14. The police recovered six mobile phones from the suspects, of which five were snatched from people in Mohali. 

A team, led by Inspector Rajdeep Singh, SHO of the Sector 31 police station, arrested the miscreants, Amandeep Singh (22), a resident of Patton village in Mohali, and Kasim Ali (18), a resident of Mouli Baidwan village. They were arrested at a naka in Sector 47. 

The suspects were riding a motorcycle owned by Kasim, which was used for snatching the mobile phones. 

The police said the suspects used to target labourers on isolated roads during late hours.  

The police said Amandeep worked as an attendant at a private hospital in Mohali and had a criminal past. “He has two cases of snatching and a case under the NDPS Act registered against him at different police stations in Mohali,” said a police official. 

Kasim is a labourer, who worked for a private company in Sector 82, Mohali. 

The police said both suspects were drug addicts and used to commit snatchings to purchase drugs.
