2 officials summoned

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra has summoned the Deputy Director, Industries, and the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) for not adhering to her orders in connection with preparing report on fire-prone units/factories in Mohali.

Sapra had asked the officials to prepare the report after the fire incident in a factory at Dera Bassi in which three workers died in January this year.

Sapra said she asked the officials to identify fire-prone units and take preventive measures, but they did nothing.

“Another fire incident took place on Saturday here. This is sheer callous approach of the officials,” said Sapra, adding that both the officials have been summoned for explanation.

It is to be noted that the Deputy Commissioner has also sought a fact-finding report from the Mohali SDM in the fire incident on Saturday.

“The report in question will be submitted in a day or two,” said Sapra.
