2 killed as bike rams into truck

Two Chandigarh youths were killed on the spot when their motorcycle hit a truck parked on the Panchkula-Pinjore highway late on Saturday night.

The victims have been identified as Monu (20), a resident of Mani Majra, and Mandeep (17), aka Mani, a resident of Khuda Ali Sher.

Paramjit Singh said he, his son Monu, Mani and his father Jagtar Singh were going to pay obeisance at Shaheedi Gurdwara near Baddi on bikes. He was riding one of the bikes with Jagtar riding pillion. The other bike was being ridden by Monu while Mani was riding pillion.

The complainant said as Monu and Mani crossed the light point near old Panchkula, their bike hit a stationary truck. He said his son tried to apply brakes but the bike crashed into the truck, causing head injuries to both riders. The victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 where doctors declared them brought dead. — TNS
