2 flights grounded from Nov 15-27

Mohali: Two private airlines will not operate their Chandigarh-Delhi flights from November 15 to 27 due to runway repair work at the Delhi airport. Jet Airways and Air India flights will not operate as a runway at the Delhi airport will remain closed during the period. On Thursday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had rapped the airport authorities for lack of facilities for international flights even though crores of rupees were collected from taxpayers and land taken from owners for the purpose. The Bench also asked for the reasons behind grounding the Bangkok flight. TNS 

Labourer dies in freak mishap

Mohali: A 35-year-old labourer was killed after his neck reportedly got entangled in a moving belt of a machine at a factory in the Phase 1 industrial area here on Friday morning. Tilak Ram was working in the factory in the wee hours along with his father and brother when the incident took place. According to the police, Tilak was cleaning the machine with a shovel when its handle got stuck in the belt. He tried to pull it out, but his neck came in contact with the belt and got entangled. He was taken to a nearby hospital where a doctor declared him brought dead. A native of Uttar Pradesh, Tilak lived here with his father Prasad and his younger brother Rinku. TNS
