2 bikers snatch purse, nabbed

Two snatching incidents were reported from the city on Friday. In one of the incidents, a PCR vehicle managed to nab two snatchers, both juveniles, near the spot.

The two motorcycle-borne miscreants were caught by a PCR vehicle while they were escaping after snatching a purse on Friday evening.

Sources said the victim, Meena, a resident of EWS flats, Dhanas, reported that the miscreants snatched her purse near her residence and sped away towards the Mullanpur barrier. The purse contained a mobile phone, documents and cash. The police were informed about the incident.

Acting swiftly, a PCR vehicle nabbed the accused at the Mullanpur barrier. The accused are residents of Dadu Majra Colony. In another incident, a motorcycle-borne miscreant sped away after snatching a purse from a woman at the Sector 20/21 light point on Friday night.

Sources said the victim had been identified as Vandana. Her purse contained Rs 5,000 and a mobile phone. —TNS

Two women arrested

In another case, the police arrested two women for snatching Rs 300 from a woman at her residence in Sector 39. The police said the women had snatched the money on March 22. Later, both accused women, residents of Mauli Jagran, were arrested. A case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station.
