2 bike-borne cops hurt in hit-&-run

In a hit-and-run case, two traffic cops were injured after being hit by a vehicle near the Kajheri chowk in Sector 52 on Thursday afternoon. 

The police said Head Constable Ajit Singh and Constable Anil Kumar were riding a motorcycle when a speeding car, that was heading towards Mohali, hit them and sped away. 

The cops fell on the road and received injuries. A body camera, which one of the cops was wearing, also got damaged in the accident. 

The injured were rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, in a PCR vehicle. 

While one of them suffered an injury on his leg, the other cop received injuries on his arm.

The police said the victims failed to note down the registration number of the car.

A police complaint was made following which a case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the IPC was registered at the Sector 36 police station.
