15 injured in Panchkula on Diwali night

Fifteen persons received injuries from crackers on the Diwali night in Panchkula. According to staff at General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, out of 15, two injuries were serious in nature and were referred to the GMCH-32 and PGI, Chandigarh. 

Among the other injured people, three complained of irritation in eyes and others were related to minor burn injuries. The injured were between the age group of 16 years to 40 years.   Besides, over 35 persons also sustained injuries but those were not related to crackers. 

Seven fire incidents 

Seven fire incidents were reported in Panchkula. No loss of life was reported in these fire incidents.  According to the fire department officials, five incidents were reported at open spaces and two at residential areas. 

The department received a call at around 6:15 pm regarding a fire breakout in Sector 9. There was fire in the third floor of a house. It was controlled by fire fighters and local residents.   The department also received a call at 2:20 am regarding fire in a house in Sector 12-A. Television, sofa set and other household items were gutted in the fire. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident. The fire was later controlled by the fire fighers. 

The department also received calls of fire at open spaces in Devi Nagar, Sector 20, Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 4, and Sector 21, but all were minor in nature.
