In a special drive, the UT traffic police booked 136 tipsy drivers last weekend.

Police officials said during the drive between June 7 and 9, a total of 136 persons were booked for drunken driving. The police said they laid nakas in different parts of the city and changed the spots to catch the violators.

This year, a total of 2,175 drunken driving challans have been issued by the UT police.

Police officials said this year, 3,176 driving licences had already been recommended for suspension for offences, including drunken driving, overspeeding, jumping red light and using mobile phone while driving.
